Pawan Kalyan, Aryan Rajesh, "Jaani Dushman" Many of the most memorable Bollywood movies are based off the legends of people who overcame difficult obstacles to become successful. "Jaani Dushman" is one such story about a poor boy named Jaani who is highly intelligent but struggles with his social standing. One day he meets a Gandhian woman named Mrs. Dushman and decides to go on a hunger strike until he can go to school. With help from Mrs. Dushman, Jaani manages to overcome his social status and becomes a well-respected teacher. The movie tells the story of a young man who gets into a lot of trouble in life. The trouble starts when he meets a drunkard in an auto rickshaw who accuses him of stealing his money. Jaani is taken to jail and spends two months in prison before he is released by the local judicial magistrate. He receives another punishment from the same magistrate when he refuses to pay the tax on his bicycle. The cycle is confiscated and he loses all his money which he earned from selling cartridges to make money for his mother's operation, but still refuses to pay the tax that person had asked for. The person demands that Jaani pay him 250 rupees (at that time, 300 rupees was the average monthly salary) but he doesn't agree to do so. Consequently, the man turns him into the police once again for refusing to pay his taxes. With the police commissioner on his side this time, he spends six months in jail. He is released on bail by another magistrate, but still has one more punishment come his way when he is caught stealing clothes from a market—the clerk of the market confronts him at night and drags him to the magistrate's office. Jaani is imprisoned again after he fails to pay an additional fine of 25 rupees by the next morning, which results in him being thrown into jail. He meets another man in prison, who tells him "everyone is ungrateful—not only the rich and famous, but also your own neighbors." He advises Jaani to leave the city and go somewhere else. On his release Jaani decides to take this advice and he ventures out into the world to seek a new home: Jaani is now homeless and jobless. Jaani's mother dies while he is still in prison, and his father gets remarried; when he comes home for Diwali (the festival of lights), his father refuses to recognize him as his son. Jaani's new friend introduces him to a small Gandhian woman who, upon meeting Jaani, recommends him for a job at a school. He agrees and becomes the new teacher at the local high school. In due course of time he becomes a successful teacher and earns enough money to marry his beloved Mrs. Dushman. The end of the film shows that he has been successful in life and is highly respected for his work with children. In this story all women are treated badly by men except one young girl named Sarojini who escapes from abusive stepfather and goes through many hardships to become fair Bahu of her village. cfa1e77820
