A group of friends are in the middle of a story that revolves around an old radio. A radio that they found in their grandma's garage when they were kids. It was old, but it had all the parts for it to work. Whoever owned it before them managed to keep it plugged in with electricity and charged up enough to make some great broadcasts for this group, who are now adults. The story is told in two timelines, one before everything went haywire, and one after everything has gone haywire. The point of view changes often between these different timelines giving readers an interesting insight into how these characters have changed over time and why certain events happen as they do during the course of the story. My headphones got a little uncomfortable during the first few chapters, but they got better as the story went on. The two timelines were also interesting to follow, and made me want to know what happens next in both timelines. I liked that one timeline mostly focused on a female protagonist and one took place mainly around a male protagonist. It was written in a way that it felt like each character had their own voice and didn't appear to be copying from one another. The main character of this story is very independent and strong-willed, which was interesting since this book is meant to be an adventure with fantasy elements present throughout the story. Every character in this story has a purpose that they serve for the story, and the language used to describe them was clear and concise. It was easy to tell who each character was meant to be, and their purpose. I found it interesting how the characters were depicted as a few different types of people during different parts of the story, but then were portrayed as one character again as the non-fiction portion began. This section of the story takes place in real time from start to finish, from when the main character first finds out about the radio to when everything goes haywire towards the end. I enjoyed the way this part of the book was written as it was easy to follow along as different characters reacted to the situation at hand. The main character made a few decisions that I found odd, but they were well-written descriptions about the decisions she made that were believable and made sense for her character. Even though this story is fiction I could tell that there was a lot of research done on the topic prior to writing this story, and I could tell exact details about what would be happening during all parts of the time line. Even though this story is fiction, it felt like it could really happen in real life. I found this book to be well-written, and edited without any errors that would take away from the fictional elements of the story. The ending of this book was exciting and interesting. I liked that things weren't resolved at the end, but there was still a sense of closure so I didn't feel confused or anything while reading this book. cfa1e77820
